How to Make Authentic Italian Limoncello at Home 🍋
There’s something magical about sipping a glass of icy-cold limoncello as the sun sets over the Amalfi Coast. It’s the essence of la dolce vita in liquid form—vibrant, refreshing, and made with love.
In Italy, limoncello isn’t just a liqueur—it’s a tradition passed down through generations. And today, I’m sharing that tradition with you.
🍋 Ingredients:
• 10 organic lemons (preferably Sorrento lemons)
• 1 liter (4 cups) of pure alcohol (95% or vodka)
• 1 liter (4 cups) of water
• 700g (3 ½ cups) of sugar
🥄 Instructions
1. Prepare the lemons
Wash and peel only the yellow part of the lemon zest (no white pith!).
2. Infuse the zest
Place zest in a jar with the alcohol. Seal and store in a dark place for 7–10 days, shaking daily.
3. Make the syrup
Combine sugar and water in a saucepan. Stir until dissolved. Let cool.
4. Combine and rest
Strain lemon zest. Mix infused alcohol with cooled syrup. Bottle.
5. Let it mature
Chill in the fridge or freezer for at least one week.
🥂 How to Serve Limoncello:
Serve ice-cold in small glasses after dinner. You can also drizzle it over gelato or mix it into cocktails for a citrusy kick.
Every sip of this golden liqueur is like a lemon-scented breeze on a summer evening by the sea.
Making limoncello is more than a recipe—it’s a reminder to slow down and savor life’s sweetest moments.
No Italian evening is complete without the scent of summer lingering in the air. This Limoncello-scented candle captures the essence of the Amalfi Coast — vibrant lemon zest, a hint of sugar, and a whisper of Mediterranean breeze.
